Hear Sia's new single 'Alive,' originally written for Adele | World News

Sia’s new song has a major connection to Adele.

The pop star has released “Alive,” the lead single from her upcoming album “This is Acting,” which she originally wrote for the Grammy winner.

Sia co-wrote the track with Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr. But after the “Rolling in the Deep” singer rejected it at the last minute, Sia decided to record the ballad herself.

The fact that “Alive” is an Adele castoff works perfectly for Sia’s forthcoming album, since “This is Acting” is made up of songs that the “Chandelier” singer wrote for other artists.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, she revealed that many of the songs on “This is Acting” were rejected by pop music’s biggest stars.

“Generally, they’re songs that aren’t from my perspective, so it feels like acting,” she told Seacrest.

“I have rejects from Rihanna, Shakira, Beyoncé, Demi Lovato, all the good girls, (and) Katy (Perry).”

A release date for “This is Acting” has yet to be announced, while Adele’s new album is rumored to be coming out in November.
