Job Summary

Responsible for providing operational leadership and for planning, coordinating and directing all aspects of the Diagnostic Imaging departments. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and actively participates in all CQI activities. Aligns departmental and organizational goals to enhance services provided by Skagit Regional Health (SRH), keeping with our vision to be the best regional community hospital in the Northwest.

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to department. Responsible for overseeing all operations of the MRI, CT, X-Ray and Special Imaging departments.
  • Develop strategic and long-range plans and policies for the effective implementation and operation of specific programs, associated activities to support continuous process improvement.
  • Facilitates communication within department and throughout the organization. Creates collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ongoing employee engagement.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, and maintains current knowledge of technical and or/regulatory topics affecting department.
  • Develops and maintains an appropriate organization structure and staff capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities for the Diagnostic Imaging function.
  • Participates in the interview process for new staff and implements strategies towards retention/recruitment of employees.
  • Ensures departmental equipment is utilized in a safe and effective manner. Evaluates quality of images and provides technical assistance. Evaluates and recommends equipment utilizing sound business practices.
  • Ensures safe work practices including understanding and enforcing appropriate security and safety measures, understanding of MSDS, infection control, fire, disaster, personal protective equipment and proper body mechanics. Ensures all incidents are reported in an accurate and appropriate manner.
  • Ensures department equipment is utilized in a safe and effective manner and that maintenance and cleanliness is maintained in compliance with SRH policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for procedures and business plans for capital acquisitions and departmental budgeting. Responsible for budgeting recommendations, monitoring, allocation, and reconciliation. Monitors expenditures involving supplies/equipment/staffing and cost control methods.
  • Manages the training and development of staff through the utilization of performance management in an effective manner.
  • Prepares and distributes required reports in accurate and timely manner.
  • Completes performance reviews and other administrative paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Complies with all other SRH policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Physical Requirements -
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or health care related field required
Desired Degree Master’s Degree preferred.

Desired Job Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience successfully managing an imaging services or similar department.

License/Certification

Certification by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist. American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) registered. Current AHA Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.

Other Qualifications

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be proficient at long-range planning, budgeting and be able to organize time effectively. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrates strong analytical, and leadership skills. Strong problem solving, and decision making skills. Ability to prioritize, problem solve and work well under pressure. Ability to instruct and interact positively with staff. Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment. Ability to plan, organize and delegate
