Honoring the greatest acts of the year, the 2012 Billboard Music Awards has arranged an impressive line of performers. Set to air live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on ABC on May 20, the awards show just released the list of nominees and announced the list of the first performers. The event will included performances by Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO and The Wanted.

Out of the thirty three different categories, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, LMFAO, and Adele has taken the lead as finalists in numerous award categories. After an amazing year dominating album sales charts and the Grammy's, its no surprise that Adele has outnumbered other artists with a total of eighteen nominations. The "Rolling In the Deep" singer has secured nominations for Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top 200 Artist with songs from her second album, "21."

Not trailing too far behind Adele is the electro-pop group, LMFAO with a total of 17 nominations. In the past year, the duo's "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy And I Know It" has topped the Hot 100 chart twice. With these two singles and a performance with Madonna, the group has skyrocketed to stardom. LMFAO and Adele will face off each other in the Top Hot 100 Artist category in additions to the other nominees, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Rihanna. The prestigious Top Artist award will be competed for by Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Adele, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Reflecting the Billboard's chart rankings, album sales, radio airplay, and social interactions on popular online sites, the awards will recognized a variety of different artists along with a variety of genres.
