The Final 8 Singers (Source: SVT)
The finalists in Svensktoppen Nästa 2015 have this afternoon been announced, 8 singers are now in with a chance to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.
Over 845 singers submitted songs into this years competition with 26 songs being selected across Sweden to go through to the final. In the end it was down to a jury to select the 8 songs that will compete in Gothenburg for a place in Melodifestivalen 2015. The jury was up made up of; Carolina Norén, Kaj Kindvall, Rita Jernquist and Kerstin Behrendtz, Christer Björkman (Swedish Head of Delegation at Eurovision) samt Maths Broborg (Sveriges Radio, Chairman of the jury).
The jury selected the following 8 singers:
- Michael Fannon – Kommer Tid, Kommer Råd
- Sofia Sandberg-Albihn – The Sunnyside
- Smajling Swedes – Goosebumbs
- Fanny Nilsson – Alone
- Jens Sporron – Make A Mistake
- Miss Winter – The Road
- Jawone – Alien
- Laila Adele – Blame it all on you
Voting for the songs is open now until September 6th, details can be found here. The winner of Svensktoppen Nästa 2015 will not automatically earn a place in Melodifestivalen 2016, a jury will select the singer that earns a place regardless of the result.
