Handover HR » Senior Practitioner – Bradford

The role of the Senior Practitioner Recruitment and Referrals is to ensure the local team consisting of 2 social workers and 2 administrators are well supervised and provide an ‘excellent’ and safe service.

Key tasks include:
Carer Recruitment
• Supervision of the recruitment process adhering to agency procedures
• Recruitment and local assessment of carers
• Supervision of any freelance assessors
• Support to the fostering panel
• Foster carer training in consultation with the Agency’s Registered Manager

Referrals
• Provide supervision to the local team and advise with regard to matching and negotiations with Local Authority placement teams
• Supervision of the local referral handling, including liaison with foster carer, social workers and the LA
• Answering queries from foster carers, social workers and the LA
• To complete initial visits to potential foster carers and allocate them to other staff for initial visits where appropriate
• To supervise the work and monitor the performance of freelance and social workers in relation to their assessments.
• To work closely with the Registered Manager in planning the assessment pipeline
• To ensure that statutory checks are properly completed and assessed and any issues to be addressed are reported to the Registered Manager
• To ensure the data integrity of the agency database at all times
• To coordinate/deliver Skills to Foster training.

Fostering Panel
• To be present at fostering panels
• To support the panel administrator in their role
• To QA all documents coming to panel to ensure they retain the high quality expected.

Referrals

• To demonstrate a clear process of making the best match within the making of placements.To promote primary and secondary vacancies among our customers on a weekly basis to create the best opportunities to make good quality matches for children
• Develop positive working relationships with LA placement teams, foster carers and supervising social workers
.• Ensure foster carer profiles are up to date and offer the best information to make good matches
.• Maintain a record of referrals coming into the service and report against these monthly in order to inform the Recruitment Strategy for the agency
• Ensure the data integrity of the agency data base at all times.

Other responsibilities
• To have an overview of all staff performance and developmental needs ensured via regular supervision and appraisals in line with agency policy.
• Be willing and able to work flexible hours that may involve evenings and weekends.
• To be fully conversant with and aware of any policy and legislative changes in the fostering arena.

Essential Requirements
• A social work or equivalent degree level qualification and 3 years post qualifying experience in a senior social work role within a fostering field.

• Holder of a clean driving licence and car owner.

Salary £35,000 – £40,000

Reduced hours of a minimum of 30 hours can be offered.
