Longer jail time for British national - News - Jamaica Star - May 10 ...

Due to an outstanding forensic report, a female British national who has been arrested on cocaine charges from March will have to spend further time in police custody.

Adele Johnson, 28, has been charged with possession of, dealing in, attempting to export and conspiracy to export cocaine.

Johnson, who is unemployed, was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday. She returns to court on May 13.

Allegations are that on March 12, about 4:30 p.m., Johnson was about to board a British Airways flight at the Norman Manley International Airport when she was searched by the police.

It is alleged that during the search of Johnson's luggage, a white powdery substance resembling cocaine was found.

The court heard that the accused told the police that she was given the suitcase by a man from Mandeville, as her initial suitcase was badly damaged.

Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged.
