I become Adele…. « Forgivingworks's Blog

every day for several hours while I am beading, shooting photos, editing them and then peddling my “wares” on Etsy. I also assume the persona of Sarah Brightman, Amy Winehouse, Sara Bareilles, Nora Jones and sometimes John Mayer. Singing is not my forte but gosh, I love it! Until a few weeks ago I only sang in my head and in my dreams but my husband bought me the most marvelous blue tooth mini karaoke gizmo. The ear “buds” are a champ at blocking out my voice completely and filling my head with music. They are like shotgun ear plugs – they completely erase the sound of my own wailing. Even more exciting is that they allow me to hear subtle nuances of the music that I have never heard before. I heard a whisper in my left ear during one song and nearly lost my lunch because I thought someone was standing behind me when I was supposed to be home alone.

The device sits around my neck like something from Star Wars – always flashing its little blue light to indicate that it is turned on. My husband also has a set although he does not use his to become a superstar. We wear them at night and look like we are manning a space vehicle from the recliner and sofa – in tandem, looking like starship fleet commanders. I don’t wear them outside the home for several reasons – one of them being that they are not age appropriate, another because I think it rude to talk on blue tooth while around other people but more importantly and this is really the reason why I don’t wear them around town……they interfere with jewelry.
