“Someone like You” – Adele cover (Mimi Sledge) ………. TropicSensation My Mommy always had a keyboard around because she used to play. She watched me be able to figure out “key” and “melodies” for years, but there was always one reason or another that she could never sit down with me and focus on that. In May of 2010 I asked her again if she would teach me to play like she used to. When she saw me be able to figure out “chords” like I had been doing on the guitar, she decided she wasn’t just going to teach me piano “songs”, but how to build “chords”. About 1 month later, she had taught me how to build majors, minors, diminished, 5th’s and any other thing on this wall chart my Daddy had bought my older sister’s years before. The next month we prepared to move from Monterey to LA county and all lessons stopped as our families focus switched. I went back to singing exclusively and my guitars and piano quickly got put away and then went into storage on September 7, 2010. I moved away and my piano stayed up there until June 5, 2011. My Daddy set up the piano in the living room to encourage Mommy to play. I had forgot EVERYTHING I had learned. Mommy got a text that said I could be in this show if I played an instrument. Assuming I’d play guitar Mommy started trying to figure out song choices that fit me and the guitar, but I told her I wanted to play piano. At first, she wasn’t sure, but we really trust each other and she knows I LOVE Adele, so she looked up how to play it
