A penny for your thoughts, my dear... or a pound for your Neanderthal skull! I found this interesting pound coin in my change. It has a picture of a Neanderthal skull, with the words 'Discovery of Neaderthal Skull in Gibraltar 1848'!
So...heads or tails? Or should I say heads or skulls? Yes, I can't say heads or tails as this coin has two heads!!! That means that you could never lose if you tossed this coin! I'm not a coin collector, but I do like finding special coins such as these in my change. A friend of mine had a lucky find the other week - an old coin from the Roman era! I would certainly be excited if I found a coin like that!
According to the BBC news, Gibraltar was the last known place in the world that Neaderthals inhabited. It is believed that Neanderthals lived in Gorham's Cave, Gibraltar up to 24,000 years ago! If you would like to know more, here is an article on the BBC news website.
