This painting is called 'A Meeting in the Meadow'. A fox cub and red deer fawn meet for the very first time in a meadow of flowers. They great each other inquisitively. The world is an exciting place for fox cubs and deer fawns... every day is filled with new discoveries and chance meetings with creatures they have never met before.
This painting is a bit larger than my usual miniatures, although it is still quite small (see coin in picture for scale). I decided to give the sea the day off.. this is not sea slate, which I usually paint my miniatures on - it is an old roof slate. I cut and sanded the slate edges to make them smooth. Sea slate is great, but the pieces I find are usually quite small. The good thing about roofing slate is that it can be cut and shaped to any size and shape that is required.
