London, Apr 23 (PTI) Singer Adele has been voted the top pop artist of the year by listeners of a gay radio station.
The "Rolling In The Deep" hitmaker was crowned a gay icon after winning 55 per cent of the 4000 votes in the poll, which was carried out by UK"s Gaydar Radio, reported Contactmusic.
The 23-year-old singer beat Lady Gaga, who got 18.9 per cent votes.
She usurped last year"s winner Kylie Minogue to take the the top spot, with Gaga coming second.
Gaydar"s programme controller Robin Crowley says, "Adele has numerous Grammys and Brits, but this is the accolade she"s been waiting for."
Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas was named Celebrity of the year, with gay soccer player Anton Hysen voted as Hero of the Year.
