English recording artist and songwriter Adele Laurie Blue Adkins or simply known as Adele takes the frontline at Billboard Music Awards 2012 with her nominations at 18 award categories.
Among Adele's nominations are Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Artist.
Other artists who are also frontrunners at BBMA 2012 are LMFAO with nominations at 17 categories; Rihanna with a spot at 13 categories; and Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne, who both ripped spots at 10 categories.
Aside from Adele, contenders for this year's Top Artist award are Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, and Katy Perry.
Last year, it was Eminem who bagged the coveted Billboard Music Award's Top Artist award, while Lady Gaga grabbed it in 2010.
"Rolling In The Deep", Adele's hit single from the album "21", put the Grammy award-winning singer in seven BBMA categories.
Adele, at the age of 23, has already earned six Grammy awards in 2012, two Brit Awards and three American Music Awards (AMA).
Some of Adele's popular hits include "Set Fire Through the Rain", "Rumor Has It", "Someone Like You" and "Rolling In The Deep".
Billboard Music Awards finalists are based on year-end chart performance according to Billboard's data partner for sales, number of downloads, and total airplay.
Also, tours and social interactions in various social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and Vevo will be considered in determining this year's winners.
